I had a Samsung HC-P4752W given to me, repaired the convergence problem with the STK chips, changed two fusible resistors, but now have a different problem.
If I turn on the TV, I get the musical tones, picture for 1-2 sec, then it goes out, then it will come back, then out, etc. It almost seems like the TV is turning on and off, but I don't hear the tones ll of the time.
If I go into the service menu, I can go into any settings, and the picture is there rock solid in the background, convergence problem is fixed. I tried to reset the values of everything to the factory defaults, but still the picture goes on and off.
What else can I check?? I do have the service manual, but it's not that much help.
Thanks
Tom
You could have a problem with one or more of the chips you replaced, or you may need to go and recheck your work. What I mean by that is, go over all of your soldering, because the smallest bridge across the leads or connections can cause a problem. You should just replace the entire convergence board, as if you do not use the recommended IC's, you can get into all sorts of differant problems. The entire convergence board is available HERE. Disconnect the board and see if nthe set comes on. If it does replace the board. If it does not check the plus and the minus(+ & -) voltage that go to the convergence board and at the power supply. Good Luck and please keep us informed about this repair.
After checking all voltages I could, I went back into the service menu and rechecked some values. Apparently some of the initial values aren't correct, the R G & B drive values default to 256, which the set won't adjust to.
Set all 3 to 0, exited service mode, TV came on and has been working since. They must have been driven too hard and the system shutdown.
BE CAREFUL IN THE SERVICE MENUS!!
Thanks
