i was hoping that i can find some answers about how to adjust the convergence on my akai model .it started after it had been moved to our new home.the problem was with the red located on top left part of screen.i tried to adjust it with no luck and in doing so wound up making matters much worse.in my numerious attempts, watched the red cross hairs flip and produce large areas of a red highlights and the other red cross hairs in the other corners are distorted in their shape.i no longer know where their original positions are.i have tried to get an understanding of the relation of one position to another and their affects to one antother to no avail.i am without a clue still.can anyone explain the method of adjusting the convergence properly?and where i could find the overlay that maps the proper locations of the nine crosshairs?ive tried to find any info about this topic on line but haven;t had any luck.i have noticed that many suggestion to people with similuar problems was to leave it to the professionals cause its tricky and time consuming.....well its alittle late for that now plus i dont have the funds at the moment.can anyone here please clue me in to this convergence topic or should i say science?help!help! please!
woopps!forgot to put the model,its a #pth 5498
you do not need an adjustment , as those adjustments are for MINOR not major changes in the convergence call drifting. You will need to change or have the two STK convergence ICs changed, but now that you piddled with the controls, WOW some alighnment is going to be needed before this set come back to normal. If you know how to work on solid state circuit boards, you can most certainly change these yourself, but if you have no printed circuit board repair experience, Please call in a pro to assist you in this repair, as it is not rocket science as to qoute you, but it also is not a skip in the park. Good Luck and keep us informed of the repair of this TV set.
Nice thread title.
Now that someone helped you, why not poke around for a question you can answer and help someone else to return the favor? I'm sure they'll appreciate it.
