Hi, I recently purchased this flat screen TV. There was a power outage and the transformer for the building was fried.Of course my flat screen went the same way as the transformer...................After taking it into a repair shop they told me that it needed a new "main power board".I have tried without any success to find out what this board looks like and if I have the right one from the parts house to order. The parts house sent me a picture of the main power board, but it does not really show me anything............. they will not give me the parts number either. The repair shop quoted a price that seems very high and I thought I would just order the part and install it myself. That is if it’s just a board that I can exchange without much to do about it.I just want to know what the main power board is and what it looks like so that I can compare the circuit boards on the set with it.Any suggestions or ideas of how I can get this narrowed down would truly be appreciated. Thanks, Rick
It is really hard to say exactly what is wrong with a TV set unless it is looked at by a tech.. I did some research and what i would start with would be the power unit my friend, but there is no way to tell if something else is wrong with the TV set. If you have homeowners insurance, take to your broker as the power unit is about 350 bucks and if the main board went out also thats another 900 bucks. The power board is available HERE If you have had no experience with TV repair, You should play it safe as I am really not sure if there would be any alighnment needed on the power board after you replaced it. You should get the service manual first and check it out. Make sure it is a job you can handle. The service manul is available at a authorized Sharp servicer or parts house. Good Luck and let us know how this turns out for you.
