I have this RCA model#hd52w56 when you first turn it on the picture and sound are ok but after a while the picture is ok but the sound is gone and you can hear ticking but no sound.
If it's more of a thumping noise than a ticking that's coming from the speakers there's a electrolytic cap on the PS/deflection board that goes bad. Can't remember the referance number but the value is something like 1000uf @ 25 or 35 volts.

do you know the location or the cap # please
I don't know the referance number, I don't have a schematic with me. It's on the PS/Deflection board and is a filter on the B+ line feeding the audio output IC.
I can't find the audio ic on the ps deflection board usually they have a heat sink and I know what it looks like and I traced the wires that goes to the bord from the speakers and they connect to digital board this is a AT312 CHASIS please let me know if you are familiar with that one it is made in 2004.
may be a loose connection at the audio output ic or trouble with an eeprom
The sound processor board goes bad in these RCA sets alot and are most of the time backordered because of this problem.

I have been told it could be the 1000micf capacitor are you sure it is the sound processor board this is a AT 312 CHASIS is it common on these.
