I have two DVD players. I don't think that the exact models are important, but one is an Omni, and the other is a Digitor cheap thing.
A while ago, the Omni stopped working; "no disc" error, with a sound like it beginning to spin up... then it just couldn't read. I tried various types of media in there, with the same result. So, we switched it off for a few months, and then turned it on to check it just before it was going to get thrown out. Surprise, it worked, and all was well with our DVD watching.
Then, a few nights ago, our Digitor showed the same symptoms. We thought it was a bit unusual for it to do the same thing, but it was cheap, so we didn't think much of it. Because we really wanted to watch something, we brought the Omni out of the bedroom... And it suddenly stopped too. It couldn't have been the jostling from moving rooms, as we recently moved house and that didn't affect it.
It confuses me that both players died in the same way at the same time. Are there any exterior effects that would do that? Would a certain type of radiation or corruption in a disc's TOC be able to screw up a player like that?
I know lots of people have "no disc" errors, so I apologise for the repetitive posting on that front. I just refuse to believe that it's just a coincidence. Thanks for your input.
