burning a dvd from my computer

heres my problem. i put the dvd i want to burn into my monitor. im using creator basic9. i get as far as coping my dvd onto the computer. in the next step it says to put a blank dvd in to record onto. as soon as i do 2 seconds later it pops the dvd back out and tells me to put a blank dvd in. its does this over and over again. i cant figure it out. i know i have the right kind of dvds it just wont let me burn them. please help. any ideas or other ways to burn dvds. have no clue. thanks
