My problem is with a 2001 Sony Wega KV32FS12 television:
Initially, there was a pop sound once in a while with no noticable effect, then there was a louder pop and my horizontal became bowed out. Waited that out for a week.... then there was a huge POP and the screen turned Orange... then shut down. ( by the way, the audio was fine during this progression ) So, now when you turn the TV on, the screen is orange and you can barely see some video behind it for 10 seconds... and then the TV shuts down. Any suggestions on possible problem? With the magnitude of the pop, it makes me think of the flyback transformer? Thank you.
that popping sound was the crt socket on the end of the picture tube or the picture tube itself. There is alot of high voltage on the picture tube and the CRT socket, and should only be worked on or attempted to be repaired by a pro. This set, like I stated could have a bad picture tube. The socket will need to be examined to make sure one or more of the spark gaps on the RGB input or one of the drive voltage inputs to the board are not shorted. If they are not it will be time I'M afraid to get a new set, because a new picture tube for this TV set would cost most likely as much as a new TV. Good Luck and let us know the outcome.
Hi Larry,
I have a Sony KV36FS13 that turned mostly Blue in color. I can't get the remote to do a reset but other than that everything else seem to work fine. When I plug the set in the LED blinks slow 13 times and stops until I hit the power button then it continues to blink 5 quick times in series while the set is on.
I never noticed any poping noises. It just went blue one day and I can't get the colors back to normal. Any ideas?
Thanks.
