I have a Pioneer DVL-91 DVD/LD player and there is a dvd loaded inside. The tray does not open and deliver the dvd when the dvd/cd button is pushed. The display shows "open", but the unit does not eject.
When the cover is removed, the dvd is in the back, underneath where the tray goes back in. The dvd can be seen through a 2-3 inch slot that is in the bak of the tray that I assume is where the laser moves to read the disc.
Is there a way for me to safely get to the disc and remove it?
In order to not destroy the optics, a pro should remove this. The disk slipped out of the tray and has been caught in the mechanism. The unit will display OPEN as that is the mode it is in. Until the tray is open, this message will be displayed. SImilarly, the display will show CLOSE until the tray has completed the loading sequence. In order to repair this, the tray will need to be unloaded by hand. The player WILL NOT complete self test in its current condition, so the front panel will not work as expected. Please see a tech for this one.
