My tv won't power up. No red led power light,sound, nothing. I replaced the resistor talked about on other posts about two years ago. I just replaced the flyback transformer on a recomendation from an on line tech (Waste of 20 bucks). There is a chirping noise coming from somewhere on the board, but I can't tell where. Please help! The wife and kids are driving me nuts without their tv set! Thanks, Jon
Did you check the set for shorts yet? Fisrt check the horizontal output transistor for a shorted condition with the leads disconnected from the printed circuit board. Next check the diodes and resistors on the sweep or the scondary windings of the flyback transformer. The chirping sound means the TV set it trying to start up but is being shut down by an overloaded main power supply and or the sweep power supply. If this does not work you will need to get a service manual and start checking the B+ capacitors and the regulator circuits. If you do not have the proper test equipment to do these checks, all I can recommend is to have a pro look at the TV set. Good Luck, and keep us posted on this repair.
