I have a 1997 RCA projection tv that was given to me about two weeks ago, and it has been fine until this morning... it now has a concave picture...there is a space at the top and bottom of the picture... is there a way for us to fix it ourselves, if not, who do we call and how much will it cost?
If you don't know what a chassi # or modle# is! take it to a tech.

Candy13079, your set sounds like you have a horizontal correction circuit problem or a convergence problem.. Does the picture look 3-D are there color lines on the outline of the images on the screen?
Yes, there are color lines that 3d all of the words and pictures on the tv.
Ok you have the typical convergence problem. These RCA circuits are a lot differant then the sets with convergence ICs. you will need to get a service manual and trace out the drive circuits. If you have no solid state repair experience, play it safe and call in a pro to assist you with this repair. Good Luck and let us know what it took to repair your TV set.
