Hello,
My Jvc plasma 3+ yrs old w/8300 hrs started showing neon green snow around the edge of the picture, then it got worse, now it's dead. When I try and turn it on it flashes a powerful electrical pulse with pure white screen for a split second and then stops. It continues to do this every five seconds (almost like it's attempting to power up) until I shut the main power to it off. Any repairmen or specialists out there that have heard of this??
I'm desperate.
Oh yea, model # is JVC GM-V42UG. Not sure where to find the chassis #.
Thanks a lot.l
Afraid you're going to have to have a repair person out to look at your set. This could be anything from a bad power supply board or Sustain board or the panel itself.
Thanks MOtvGuy,
I know you can only speculate but does it sound like something that would cost more to fix than to just buy a new one?
I'd like to avoid investing any more $ into it if it would be less to buy new rather than fix it.
Thanks again for replying.
If it's a panel the set is history. If it's a board you could be looking at anywhere from $300 up to 700 or 800. A new Name brand plasma will run you around $1500 and up. It's a gamble. Even if it isn't the panel you'll still be dropping quite a bit of dough on fixing that set and it still has the original panel in it. If it's on a stand, try taking in to someone who gives an estimate reasonably.
Thanks again for your help.
