I can't condone music sharing with programs like limewire, so I'll assume it's an independent artist that wants to spread music to others through P2P software.
A few things I need to ask. What format is the music in (MP3, OGG, AAC, WMA, etc.)? Is the file copy-protected? Is it all songs you've obtained, or only certain ones?
A good check to see if the WMA files are protected would be to try and play them through Windows Media Player. If they won't play there, they are protected. You can also try holding your mouse over the file icon in Windows Explorer. A pop-up dialoge may tell you if the file is protected.
Do the MP3 files work in iTunes, or are you having problems with both?
