I have an RCA 32f530t (32" tru-flat) tv. When we tried to turn it on the other day, all we got was a squeeling noise and no power to the set. The TV is less than 2 yrs old. Any opinions as to what the problem may be? Thanks for the thoughts

Check the hot if good, resolder it and the coil and the drive transf .also check for dry joints in the flyback pins.
What silva means by an HOT is the Horizontal Output Transistor and the drive coil off of the secondary of the horizontal driver transformer going to the base of the horizontal output transistor. You cannot simply resolder this coil. You must remove it and scrap off the enamal on this coil and then reinsert this part and resolder. Then if the transistor is good, and the coil repair did not help, look at the resistor on the horizontal driver transformer to see if it is bad. It should be about 2.7k or around there depending on the model number. If all of this is done most likely, the flyback tranformer is bad, and probably not worth repairing. Good Luck and let us know if you got your TV repaired, and what the problem was.
Thank you for the replies. I have to admit, after reading them, I took the set to a repair shop.
Picked it up yesterday. He said the high voltage transformer had shorted out and burned-up a small black rectangular "box" (receipt lists something about horizontal control) with three connector pins.
Hooked it up and I now have a new problem. Along a horizontal line, about halfway down the screen, the picture is "mis-alligned". It is as if the upper half has been moved sideway a fraction. It is not much but enough to be noticed.
When I called them back he said it might be a bad transformer. He also said RCA doesn't make these transformers anymore and he had to put in an aftermarket one (model AST2500?).
I will keep you updated.
