HT2751A This is a repost

I have an Advent HT2751A that seems, every day at some point or another starts to get a couple lines(similar to radio interference) that slowly increases, and increases sometimes until the entire picture is not viewable. At first I thought it was the source(Dish network) but I switched it with another tv hooked up to dish and the tv still did it in its' new spot. The tv in the old spot works 100% fine. So I know it is not the signal. When I play a dvd and have it in Component 1 mode it never does it. And when the static/snow happens If I press menu, the menu box will be 100 % perfect picture, but the snow still happens behind it. Very wierd looking. Basically, Is the tv worth fixing or should I just buy a new one ?

Is the Satillite connected

Is the Satillite connected through the RF connection or through the video.  Does the set have a tuner that you tune to a channel to get DTV?  How many compont inputs do you have?

Through the "antenna" cable

Through the "antenna" cable connection in back. The dish set up/installer set it up with the cable running straight to each television and out the the surround sound/dvd player. The tv in its' original place in the house is placed on channel 60 . When I switched it to the main room it went to channel 3. So both spot did this problem. The tv that I was switching it with worked and still works great in either position. Scary thing is  the other tv is like 10 years old and works great .

As far as component inputs, both connection sites only have 1 DVD surround system (combo unit made by Philips) so there is not a ton of wiring. Both areas are plugged into "power Blocker 2" power/surge protection that is supposed to stabilize the electricity even and filtered upon entry into the devices(so I was told). Nonetheless, the both are operating properly according to the lights and the switching tv test.I have moved outlets just for kicks once too.

Another added explanation is as follows....The lines come and go.The tv might clear up , say for hours after a small incident or may require just giving up for now and turning it off and recording it on dvr. Sort of like , in the old days if you lived in a big city and jets would fly over there would be static for a few seconds,30 at most. Then all is ok. So I do not believe it is a "heat" issue. (just more info for diagnostic theory)

I hope this answers your question.Otherwise , I will try back later and re-answer your next questions.

Thanks for responding.

now I think I know your

now I think I know your problem.. You stated that a DVD player works good on your TV set. I think your TV set has an intermittant tuner or tuner control circuit. Just to be sure. Connect up some video and audio cables from the sat reciver to the video input of the Tv set. if not able to do this try connecting an antenna uop where the sat is connected and tune in a station and see if the lines and interferance shows up.

Trying an old fashioned

Trying an old fashioned antenna, after about 2 hours of just letting it run the lines/interference came and went just as usual.

So , rather than take it in ,

So , rather than take it in , I probably have 2 choices........

Use it only for either dvd playback and video games(which I am not into the latter)

Or, throw it in the Dumpster at work and never buy this brand again(It has the extended warranty-but we moved 400 miles from where we bought it and the company does not return calls or e-mail anyway)

This is too bad , as the telivision did work well for about 13 months.

Thank you for your help. I appreciate the time .

If it only has one set of  a

If it only has one set of  a/v jacks. You can use an A/V switch Box to get around bad tuner . Hook DVD and DVR to A/V Box then to TV , then select the one you want as needed. They also come in S-Video format. Choose the one that is common to all three devices , some A/V Box's have both. You should be able to get one for around $20 - $25 . Remote Control ones for $40 -$45.

Best Buy service does work on

Best Buy service does work on Advent but I doubt they'd honor another companies service contract.  You're looking at $250 minimum for them to fix it.
