Power Over Wireless Cellphone Charges...

Later on this year a number of companies are due to release cell phone charges in the form of a pad, similiar to a mouse mat which you place your cell phone onto and it simply charges the cell phone.  Power Over Wireless is also set to be developed for other application such as laptops as high powered RFID tags.

Im just wondering whether anyone is aware of this product along with any prices (my assumption is that they start off as 'luxury' items and become cheaper as they become more popular).

 Thanks.

Hi justlukeyou,

Hi justlukeyou,

Very cool thread! I can't wait for something that finally makes charging devices a heck of a lot easier. I've just never understood why I have to have 47,000 different chargers when there "could" be some sort of standard wireless power technology to simplify everything.

I'm indeed aware of these upcoming devices. In fact, we have an article from 2005 about SplashPad, which is one of the wireless charging pads. (http://www.techlore.com/article/10837... . The article is a bit old, but it's still a good read.

Not sure about pricing yet, but I hope it's not super expensive. This is something I really want to jump on when it's available... given that the price is right.

What price do you think is the "right" one? What gadgets do you have that you want to charge this way? Just a phone, or do you think this is something that could ease charging MP3 players, phones, PDAs, cordless mice, etc?

I think a fair price for this

I think a fair price for this charging pad would be $49.95.
