I have a Panasonic DVD home theater sound system SC-DM3 which was bought about 5 years ago. for some reason out of the blue it won't allow me to play original DVD's. the message on screen is - this disc will not play in your region.
does anyone have any ideas as to why this has happened, i have looked throught the menus and the manual and still none the wiser.
to make things even more strange it isn't a multi region DVD player so i'm totally puzzled.
And to make things worse my 2 year old daughter cannot watch her favourite Shrek 2 and i am being pestered 24/7.
Please...any thoughts would be much appreciated.

This is an indication that the disk is not being read correctly. The first step is to try and clean the lens. If that doesn't work, the optics assembly may need to be replaced. I couldn't find a listing for the SC-DM3. Is there a model number on the DVD player itself or is this a combo unit? Keep us posted.
