Sony KP-53S65, burned out capacitor C514. After hours of web-search, this seems to be the most common problem with this model, however I found different recommendations for replacement, one at 680pF, the other at 1000pF, both 2kV. I downloaded a service manual, which is NO HELP. The specs for the C514 contain no value, just the following note: "The components identified by the X in this manual have been carefully factory-selected for each set in order to satisfy regulations regarding X-ray radiation. Should replacement be required, replace only with the value originally used." Well how am I suppose to figure the original value? The original capacitor is burned and shorted, it has no visible markings to identify its value. Sony does not reply to e-mails. Can anyone help? Thank you
Use the 1000pf at 2kv. There should be 2 of these located close to each other. This is a relatively common failure. These caps are little blue ones. Dan
