Need help with sony lcd

I have a sony 50 inch lcd projection tv Model # kf-50we610. I am having several problems. the set was purchased in Jan. 04. About three month ago I started noticing purple spots all over the screen, this is more noticable on a lighter backround. Also the colors on the screen are not as vibrate as they use to be, almost as the screen is getting darker. this morning I went to pull the lamp bulb out and could not  because the plastic enclosure surrounding in has melted onto the lamp bulb I have a tech coming out in three days to check this out. Any help or insight into any of the problems will be of great help. Thank you in advance.
