JVC LT-23B60SU Problem

Hi All,

1st post so hope I get all the details correct:

LCD TV was purchased in Nov 2005. From day 1 it was losing the channels and needed to have the autostore function carried out daily. In addition sometimes the set would turn off and not turn on again until 10-15 minutes had passed.

In mid 2006 I was fed up with this and took the set into the JVC repair center. Their report: No problems, badly tuned.

Almost immediately the same problems started. I used a different Tv until this week but have now set about fixing this one. Opening the back the large chip (the one with legs) had four legs not contacting and one bent underneath the chip itself. Straightening these out the TV now works fine except it does not recognise any of the EXT/AV slots and instead thinks the source for all except the antenna is a pc..... Trying to change the source to EXT it automatically changes to PC. Selecting AV with the remote the on screen error message is "Signal not found"

Is there any way to reset the system / reprogramme the TV so that the other sources function as they did before I fully engaged the chip?

 Thanks in advance!

 Angus

Uh, there's a bunch of chips

Uh, there's a bunch of chips in the back of a JVC LCD. I have no idea what you've done but there's no way to reset anything in that back to a factory default setting.  You've got another problem.

BTW, If you bought this set in Nov. 2005, you probably paid a pretty penny for it.  Why would you have tolerated anything less than a perfectly functioning TV set from the minute you turned it on?  Something about this problem just isnt' ringing true.

Thanks MOtvGuy,

Thanks MOtvGuy,

I paid around US$1000 for the TV and didn´t get it rectified immedietly as I was working away from home. Hence I Didn´t have time or opportunity to take it to the store that sold it. Reading it back I can see how you´ve come to the conclusion you did. I was mightly pi55ed to buy a new TV and not have it work but then as I was away from home it didn´t cause me too much trouble.

The problem is simply that the memory(?) programming aspect of the Tv isn´t right.

The chip is the only one that can be removed from its base unit as the plug in type.

Again any answers are most appreciated.

 Thanks again,

Angus
