There's the problem:
I have my Samsung 46" 1080P TV connected to my Samsung model # DVD-HD860 up-convert DVD player. When playing a DVD and up-converting to 1080i the screen starts flashing purple like crazy. When I switch it to 720P, it works fine. 1080i is the only issue. It is NOT flashing when watching cable TV in 1080i, only DVDs.
I am using Monster 1000 series HDMI cables. I tried switching cables and it still flashes. So, it not the cables.
I took the DVD player back to the store and hooked it up to the display model of my same TV and it worked fine. So, its not the DVD player.
Thinking it was the TV, I took it back and exchanged it for a new one. I took it home and hooked it up and had the same problem! Two TVs flashing purple when up-converting to 1080i...what are the odds? Why is the display model working fine at the store and the two I went through not?
