The above set has sound but no picture. I was told by a repair shop after electronic diagnosis that the set needs a transformer. Is that so or can it be repaired any other way? Thanx.
Im wondering what transformer is bad? Iv it was the flyback, I could see that. This transformer would for sure cause the problem but I have not seen on go bad yet in this mater. If the Flyback transformer was shorted, the set would not have any sound, as the audio chip gets its power from the sweep supply. Your problem could be a video, blanking, or a vertical sweep problem. There could also be a bad resistor a a connection in the filiment drive circuit. without the knowledge of how the circuits work and a schematic diagram, this TV set should only be repaired by a trained tech. There are no user relacable parts inside this TV. Good Luck and play it safe and call out another tech to look at the set. Let us know how you make out with the repair of this TV.
