Hello and thanks for looking. I own a Toshiba 36HF12 and am having a problem with it. Whenevr im watching it he tv tends to turn off suddenly after around an hour or two. When it turns of all i see is a red light at the bottom blinking. If i try pushing the power button nothing happens. I have to unplug the tv and plug it back in in order to be able to turn it back on. Can anyone please help? Thank you in advance.
Your set is going into the x--ray protect or the overvoltage condition mode. This is why you have to unplug the set to reset the microprossor to get the set to come back on again. This repair is going to need a skilled tech to find the problem, as it could be a simple bad connection, or an intermittant componet. It may require that these test points of the circuits I mentioned will need to be monitored to see why the set is shutting down. One the faulty circuit is located, the troubleshooting begins. If you have no schematic of this set or do not have the techinacal knowledge of how a TV protection circuits work, please find a repair person to assist you in this repair.
