Anti reflective Coating Damage on Rear Prjection Sony

Help me Please!!!  While trying to buff out a scratch on the front of my son-in-law's Sony KP51something using toothpaste, I removed a significant portion of the anti-reflective coating.  Short of removing the rest, what can I do?  I feel terrible!
