I get occasional horizontal white lines across the tv..some times pic goes away for a second then returns...............................white lines also appear at bottom horizontally..sometimes a few...then disappear. They happen more frequent as time goes on........................What might the problem be?..Worth repairing?? TV is a JVC....older model..
GregA, this may be two problems but could also be caused by the same thing. First thing that comes to mind would be in the vertical circuit. The white lines could be the edge or ends of the top and bottom of the picture on the TV screen. You may have some capacitors in or around the vertical drive and output circuit that may be becomming dried out or leaky. The blanking of the picture could be the fact that the vertical will cause the blanking circuit to activate because the set detects a fault. You will need to have a good capacitor checker to find these capacitors if this is what you problem is. If you have no solid state repair experience, mty best advice would be to seek out a pro to assist you in this repair. A repair like this should not cost that much. Good Luck, and keep us informed of your progress with this repair.
