I OWN A VS5051/2 REAR PROJECTION TV. HAD IT APPROX 12 YRS. WE HAD SOME BAD WTHR IN SAN ANTONIO THE LAST FEW DAYS AND I NOTICE FREQUENT ELECTRICAL SURGES DUE TO ICE AND SNOW. MAYBE THIS IS NOT THE CAUSE BUT I THOUGHT ID MENTION IT. MY TV NOW DOES NOT POWER UP. I CAN HEAR A CLICKING NOISE ON AND OFF BUT NO GREEN INDICATOR LIGHT OR SOUND OR PICTURE., I DO HAVE A SURGE PROTECTOR IN LINE. ANY IDEAS????????
Hi Fred,
I'm facing exactly the same issue on my Mitsubishi VS5051 that you described below.
I would really appreciate if you could get back with whether you found any solution or were you able to get your TV working again.
Thanks a lot in advance for your time.
Thanks and regards.
You will need to check the main power supply in the set. Most likely the regulator is bad because of bad capacitors. If you do not have any solid state printed circuit board repair experience, I'm afraid the best advice I can offer would be to call in a pro to assist you in this repair or contact ptscorp.com and see what they charge for a chassis overhaul of this model. Good luck.
Hi newbee....my tv is still sitting alone in the garage, everyone i called wanted more to come and look with no guarantees than the set was worth..maybe it worked out better as i upgraded to hdtv lcd and love it..sorry i dont have an answer for you..good luck...fred
It's very possible that you have a burnt resistor r2200 or r2207. I had the same problem, I could hear a click when I hit the power button. But that was it. After replacing those resistors and reconnecting a burnt leg on transistor q2023(I think) fixed my problem. Both the sound and picture worked beautifully.
I have a Mitsubishi that will power up just fine but then the screen will go black. i still have sound just no picture give it five minutes and the picture is back. Any suggestions??
OH sure., I am suppose to know what model you have?My Chrystal ball is in the shop.
