Hi, I have an older Pioneer Elite PRO118 tv. I have recently started getting problems with the convergence. When cold there is this green line that goes from the bottom and top of the tv horizontally. Below that line the colors seperate a bit. Ocasionally the whole screen seperates and I get a bowed effect at the top and bottom and the colors seperate. When the tv fully heats up this almost never happens. Yes, turning the power on and off corrects the problem temporarly. When the tv is working correctly and the guns are clean(which I have to do again) the picture is fantastic. In most cases with an NTSC signal the picture is superior even to hdtv's I have seen. I have not had any problems with this tv to date. Is it worth fixing? Could it be something I might find. Although I know little about electronics, I can do most anything mechanic. Thanks Paul
If you figure out the problem, let me know. Having the same problem only different tv and with the red. [email protected]
I have narrowed this problem down to my front panel. With my tv when I take the speaker cover off there is an access panel in the front. On this panel there is a circuitboard. While removing the speaker cover my picture came back. Also tapping gently on the outside will correct the picture. So I removed the circuitboard and checked the solders on the back. Several are leaking flux? I have found the chipset for the red and the blue but not the green. However the green is the one that has the problem. There is a heatsink in the middle of this board that has the screw soldered to the board. I am reluctant to start soldering. I have nothing for any cold soldering techniques. I am probably going to call a tech in to fix the problem. It should be easier for them because I nave narrowed down the problem for them. Paul
