My screen has suddenly reduced down to about 1/3 normal heighth, and clors flash from green to red to blue. Kind of like looking at a widescreen movie.
This viewable image is centered in the screen. Also lost my sound at the same time.
Any suggestions as to possible cause?
Thanks,
Ed
Sounds like the power supply is loading down. It could be a vertical output IC sucking the juice down. Could be a bad capacitor in the main or standby power supply. hard call without a manual or looking at the TV set. since there are no real user replaceable parts inside this set, My best advise would be to call in a pro to assist you with this repair. Good Luck, and let us know how you made out.
Thanks for the reply,
I'll call a repair shop today
No problem, let us know how you made out with the repair shop.
So far, it's $65.00 plus labor and parts for a service caall to my house ( this thing weighs 161 pounds), or if I take it i, it's a $40.00 bench charge plus parts and labor, but the $40.00 will be applied to the repair charge.
This is a very reputable dealer shop, been in business for years, known as Brookmill TV and Radio in Fort Wayne Indiana.
Probably going to get my buddy to help me take it in, he has a two whell cart.
Load it up in the back of my covered pickup and take it in.
Thanks, will keep you posted.
I do a lot of elctronic work myself( I'm a HAM radio operator) but I Just don't have the equipment to do this.

This TV is a 36 inch Toshiba CRT television, absolutely graet picture when it works, but a heavy monster!

I know the Set Ed. I had to lug those puppies around and you cannot do it by yourself. You can move it with a hand truck once it is on the ground easy enough but dont ever try and lift one down to the floor or off the floor up to the bench by your self or you will be talking like tinker bell!@
