I currently have a Pioneer plasma monitor with a VGA input which I have my HP Media Center computer hooked up and I want to use a secondary monitor. The computer is in one room and the plasma is in different room. I'd like to use my plasma as a secondary monitor and by using a wireless keyboard and mouse surf the internet from the family room rather than going to the office.
When I switch my inputs on my plasma to the computer input I only get the wallpaper, but do not show any other desktop icons (Excel, Internet Explorer, etc.) I have changed the display properties so that the secondary monitor (plasma) is switched to the primary monitor, but still not desktop icons show on the plasma.
What am I doing wrong that I cannot get the icons on the plasma and consequently cannot click on the icon to use this as a secondary monitor.
I would appreciate the help!
I have this working with my Samsung HDTV and Compaq Presario M2000 laptop running Windows XP.
Since
you are seeing your wallpaper, the only possibility I can think of is
that you may have your desktop size set to something large enough that
your plasma cannot show it all at once.
Try moving your mouse off each edge of the screen one side at a time. If your icons appear, this is the problem.
I last had this type of problem when a monitor went bad and I replaced it with one of a smaller size.
