Tape to MAC with Date/Time

I am using a Panasonic PV-GS31 and an iMac G5. I can successfully grab footage from my camcorder to my Mac (using Final Cut Express), however I am unable to figure out how to include the date/time stamp on the footage. The date does appear during playback on my camcorder.
