Need help with TV

The other day, my TV mysteriously broke on me. I was watching the TV for a couple of minutes, when all of a sudden, it shorts out (this has happened before with no negative long-term effects, or so I thought). I try turning the TV on, and the TV turns on, but only displays the little column in the center of the screen, the rest of the screen is black (you know how when you turn off a TV, there's that little white bar in the center of the screen that's the last to go away). I tried changing the TV to the DVD player, to the VCR, unplugged the cable, to no avail. Anybody have any solutions or things to try before I contemplate buying a new TV?

(If there's a case similar to this on these forums, please link me to it)

Many Apex models weren't

Many Apex models weren't really servicable because APEX never provided service literature. That may be one of those models.
