i have a sony kp61s35 big screen tv with real bad convergence problems
i read somewhere that you can use the remote to get into servise mode
but i dont have the remote is ther a universal that i can buy to get into
it or is ther anythang i can do without paying big bucks to fix it
Im sorry to inform you, the service menu is for small convergence corrections. Most of the time, when the convergence goes out, there are two Large convergence IC's you have to replace to get the set working again. If you have had any solid state repair experience, working on solid state electronics it should not be too difficult for you to do, but your going to also need to know how to solder and unsolder. Sometimes the IC's also will take out a few low value resistors with them. If you have had no previous repair experience, a TV set is not the place to be experimenting around inside of. Please play it safe and call in a pro to assist you. Also you can do some serious damage if you do not know what code and value is needed for certain adjustments Good Luck, and let us know how you made out.
A convergence operation is not something you should do without 1. some experience and 2. the service manual.
As far as the remote goes, a replacement from Sony is available from a company called Tritronics Inc. for $43.95. The website for them is: tritronicsinc.com
Follow the options under parts using hte model number. The original remote is no longer available but Sony has a substitute part # 1-475-802-11
Good luck and keep us posted.
