This HDTV is 18 months old and out of warranty. Stopped working one nite. Power light is on, but will not power up. TV repair man said I need to replace the entire main circuit board, due to a bad component. This board cost $220.00 at discount parts. Has anyone had a similiar problem with a samsung?
I doubt very much if this tech was really going to replace this entire board in this TV set, as from Samsung it cost 228.00. And I spoke with a bud from a place that repairs boards, and they will do it for 200.00 bucks. I think the tech knows of two of the very common problems with this model of TV set. One is an open line input transformer. and another is the eeprom goes bad. Both of these repairs should not be attempted by the handi-man unless you have some solidstate repair experience working on printed circuit boards. if you have no TV repair experience, please seek out a pro to assist you in this repair. Since I have limited repair experience, I was considering purchasing the entire board and installing it myself. It appears that all connections plug into it. My concern is that it will go out again. I hate putting that much money into it not knowing. The common problems you mention, what causes them to go out in the first place? Is is a faulty design or?
