I have a 27" sylvanna that has horizontal white lines at the top of the screen it started with about 1/2" down and now is about 4" down from the any help would be great thanks
This problem sounds like a typical capacitor falure or vertical output IC falure. The Waveshaping and coupling capacitors cause this problem all the time. Although it is not a difficult problem to find, it's that you need the proper equipment such as an ESR capacitor check and a mutimeter. If you have no solid state repair experience, it's going to be a hit and miss thing to find by replacing the small capacitors in or around the vertical sweep circuit and or the sweep power supply. Not really a job for the handi-man to mess with. If you have not got the proper equipment, and or tools, please seek out a pro to assist you in this repair. Depending on how old the set is will determine if you want to sink money into a TV set such as this. Good Luck, and let us know if you get this repaired and what the problem was.
As Larry says, without the proper equipmetn this is going to hit or miss. If we get the model number of the set, we can tell you if it is worth the time and money to replace and what the part designations might be for the parts in question.
