Need a switcher/distribution amp?

Hello All

The local Church we attend here in  is getting a video system and I need to see about getting a video/audio switcher or an inexpensive distribution box, that will have one or two inputs for separate video and audio and at least four outputs to run to monitors in the nursery and the other quiet rooms.  You have any ideas?   Thanks for your assistance

For all around service, I

For all around service, I highly recommend the Recoton SVS-1000. It is a 4-input unit, with both component stereo and S-Video. It has only a single output, but a little thinking can make a multiple output feasible.  A word of caution:  These can be found on E-Bay, but for some reason some sellers think this is rocket-scientist material!  Switchers are, or should be, never expensive...there are millions of them out there!  Be patient and you should be able to pick up one for under $10 bucks or so, including shipping! Good Luck!

Larry,

Larry,

The options available for you arealmost limitless.  It all depends upon how much you want to spend and how much you want to do manually.  As far as signal goes, anything over about 150 feet should have an amp built in.  I have had longer runs work without problems, but not knowing anything about the electrical system or the routes you need to take with the cables...

Also, use RG6 cable.  This is a better shielded cable (if rated for digital signals) and is more durable.  Limit the connections that you have.  Each connection creates a Db loss.  Can you be more specific about what your requirements are?  Specifically: what inputs do you need and how many output feeds are required?

Thank you Dan, as I have ran

Thank you Dan, as I have ran many many systems, but Im looking for an inexpensive One to two input with four amped. outputs to go to other TV sets about 200 feet away. I have the RG6 wire we use for Pelco camera systems. it is military grade and cost about 200 bucks per 1000 feet. I have used thios wire without an amp for over 1500 feet, but that was stretching it a bit. I was just tired of dinking around trying to find what I need but, I guess I will look and see. I have installed many many pro systems in the past, but this is a simple one camera with audio feed going to a few Nursary rooms at the church, so they can also see the service.

Larry,  There are a few

Larry,  There are a few different options available on the market.  I'll research this and get back to you shortly.  Most likely the cheapest way will be to use an RF converter and a standard apartment distribution amp.  These come in either 4,6 or 8 way combinations costing around $50-$100.  The RF converter should not be more than $20.  This way you can use the "system" for namy things not just the camera.
