We have a denon 1710 dvd player, it's about 1 1/2 years old. Today, I put a dvd in the tray and the power went off of the player. I unplugged player, waited and plugged back up and pushed power button and it came back on. When the tray was retracting back into player, power to player, power went off again. This happens repeatedly. Any ideas?
Sounds like a power supply regulator falure. Unfortaintly, these types of repairs far exceed the cost of a new unit. Time to get a new unit as a holiday gift. Good Luck
There are a series of DVD players that had problems like you describe. THe solution (if memory serves me correctly...) was to replace a ribbon cable which connects the controller section to the front panel or the optics assembly. Basically what is happening is that the system control sectoin is getting conflicting information from the player and it does not know the current status of the unit. Rather than damage a DVD or the optics, the unit powerfails.
I'll try and research this a bit more.
