Two days ago we installed our new Philips Plasma 42PF9431D/37. We are connected to HD satellite. While watching a program, the Philips TV menu will appear unannounced. This happens several times during the evening with no apparent pattern. We have unplugged the TV overnight with no success (including all other cables attached) Any ideas how to stop this? We have called Philips for assistance and was referred to a carry-in facility 120 miles away.
Not sure what to tell you. Sounds like it's software related. If you got this from one of the major bigbox retailers you can usually take it back and get another one.
I have seen the remote cause this problem a few times even with a projection and or a picture tube set. Before traveling a hundred miles one way, try taking the batteries out of the remote to see if this helps. If not, take the advice of MOtvGUY, as he knows what he is talking about. Thank you for your suggestions. The remote idea was a good one...but failed. While sitting there with the batteries in hand, the menu popped up. Guess we will be in route back to the store.
