Ok I found the scoop on this Advent Digital camera's. The parent company for this is Audiovox. They would not give me the time of day. They said contact the number in the owbners manual if I wanted service. Sorry I tried. Let us know if you get anywhere else with this. Good Luck
Thanks for your effor. Advent or as you now inform me Audiovox is a crap company with very poor customer services.
But back on subject..
While it would be nice to have a specific repair manual I think I could manage with a general one. Although I have never tried repairing cameras I suspect if you know how one works you have a chance with most others
I also suspect the workings of an advent camera is shared with other camera manufactures
While this response is a bit late, let me add the following for general digital camera repair...
This is not a repair that should be attempted by a novice. Aside from the small size of the camera and its component parts, there is little that can actually be repaired. Sometimes there are mechanical problems like the iris sticking closed or open, but for the most part only board swaps are possible. All components are surface mounted and difficult at best to replace and often not available for replacement anyway. If the camera is within the warranty period, get it fixed. Otherwise, you will probably save money by replacing it. While working for a warranty service center, we usually replaced the boards. The manufacturers do not provide detailed service information even to their service centers. The FRUs (Field Replacable Units) are the boards and lens assemblies.
Sorry to intrude on your conversation but i need a little help my digital camers wont turn on battery is full normaly the lence would open up and start to focus once the camera is on but i get nothing can anyone elp me please?
