My tv makes a loud buzzing noise after it has been on a while. I would like to know if thats something I can repair myself? Is this from some wires being crossed or something. Other than that tv are parts work fine.
This set is famous for this noise after a year or so of use. It gets louder as time goes by. What it is is in the deflection yolk on the neck of the picture tube. Sometimes a servicer can calm down the buzz a bit by sticking in wooden spacers, but really the only way to totally calm down the noise, would be to replace the deflection yolk. This is not something a user can do as there is some alighnments that need to be done with the convergence magnets on the neck mounted before the yolk. You also need special equipment to adjust this . If you can, live with the noise, unless you wish to pay more then the setis worth vs cost to repair. Good Luck, and let us know if you got it fixed.
