Power Failures?

Help! I have a 52" RCA CRT rear-projection television that's doing something curious. At first, the power switch on the console unit stopped working, forcing me to use the remote to turn the unit on and off. Then that ceased to work as well. The unit makes the usual "switch" noise when you press the button, but then nothing happens. The TV has been repaired before for the same kind of problem, and I seem to recall that it had something to do with the on/off switching unit inside the TV or something like that. The problem was that the repair was rather expensive, and the unit just broke down again a year later. The unit is around 10 years old, so I expect some problems, but another repair or two and I'll have paid for the unit twice. What could be the problem with my TV, and is it worth the expense to get it repaired again? True, the unit is large at 30" deep and nearly 5 feet high, but it's in good condition and has a special order wood cabinet that makes it an attractive addition to our family room. Am I wasting my time trying to repair it?

A 10 year old TV set that I

A 10 year old TV set that I had paid once to repair would be on the curb right about now.  Unless you know how to troubleshoot solid state bcircuits, You should seriously think about a new set. As  why put good money after bad.  maybe, if you want , invest in an estimate , if its a reasonable price.  i think you wshould read this article,  http://www.techlore.com/article/10602/How-to-Determine-if-you-Should-Repair-a-Broken-Device/  Good luck and please let us know how you decided.
