No sound after DVD inserted?? Toshiba 35af43
oops the title should be 36af42 ....

Yesterday, the tv worked fine all day as it always does.  It has a DirecTV satellite box and a Cyberhome (cheapie) DVD player hooked up to it.  We use the TV's speakers.

Last night, I received a DVD from the UK and put her in.  There was no sound so I watched the picture and thought that may be there was an incompatibility due to being from a different country.  I used the same UK DVD in my computer and it sounded wonderful.
Today, we tried to watch a regular DVD but still no sound.  I checked the cables, fine.  I turned off the satellite box and DVD player and set the TV to snow/static, there was no sound.  I found the owner's manual and did the troubleshooting making sure the settings were STR, variable volume and speakers on.  Still no sound.
Could the DVD have caused a problem?  If so, what steps do I take now?

Naww, I dont see how a DVD

Naww, I dont see how a DVD could cause a problem.  Did you have sound through the DTV box?  Have you mad sure the SAP was not on?  If you dont have sound on anything and the SAP is off, you most likly have a sound  output IC or a power supply problem or maybe both.  If you have any solid state troubleshooting experience, you will most likly need a schematic so you know where and what the voltages are.  if you have no experience with this, play it safe and have the set estimated by a trained tech.  This sould not be any big deal.  Good Luck and please let us know how you made out with this repair.
