I have a Toshiba Flat screen TV/DVD/VCR combo that slowly stopped responding to the remote control. I have tried replacing the batteries and also tried a brand new remote...no success. Any suggestions?

Was it an original remote you tryed, or a universal type of remote?
Yes, I tried the original remote as well as a brand new universal remote. I tested the universal remote on another TV so I know it works for sure. Any suggestions?
Most likly you have a remote sensor problem. This is something thats buried way up front of the set in back of the plastic cabinet. Not an easy thing to get to. its the sensor or the power supply running to the sensor, or a bad connection between the sensor and the microprocessor.
Unless you know about solid state repairs on printed circuit boards, as well as have an ocilliscope to trace the data from the sensor, then i would highly advise on taking this set into a pro.

Does it respond to tv buttons If so you have to check the IR circuit.

What and where is the IR circuit? The TV responds to its own buttons. So I will need to take the TV to a professional correct?

Do you think it would be better to just buy a new TV. Any ideas on cost for repair?
