Audio CD player damaged by water

Unfortunately, water got into my Goodmans GPS160R Boombox when it was being powered by batteries. Since then the CD player has not worked. It attempts to read cds and after 10 seconds or so of 'normal quiet whirring' it makes a grinding sound for a couple of seconds and then stops. The display stays as a dot next to the 'power' lettering and two dashes where the numbers should appear. I have tried cleaning the lens with a alcohol on a cotton bud and using a standard cd cleaner, but this has made no difference. Is this problem repairable and is there anyone in particular you would recommend does the repairs? Many Thanks.
