Intermittent Picture

I have a Mitsubshi VS4552 rear-projection TV that has sound but the picture will be on and then disappear for awhile, then come back on, etc. etc.  Any ideas as to what the problem may be?

A few differant things come

A few differant things come to mind when I think of this model.  If it has a PIP feature, the surface mounted caps are most likly bad on the PIP module.  Or the vertical output IC has a bad connection on it and is going bad itself,  Fluid from the CRTs could have leaked out onto the main printed circuit board.  This may take some testing of these circuits before you can really say what circuit is causeing this problem.  Your going to need to monitor the blanking line when the set is good and laso when it goes bad.  If the blankings not causeing the picture to go out, your going to have to scope out the video signal going into the PIP module and on the output of it.  This would not be a job for the unexperienced person with no TV repair training.  A repair such as this may be several hunderd dollars to repair.  Depending on how much the set will cost to repair and the age of the set, will determine if it is worth it or not. Good Luck and please let us know what you found or did with the set.
