My Philips 28 inch widescreen CRT tv has developed an intermitent fault with horizontal lines distorting the picture. When it does occure it seems to be when the picture is very light or contains a lot of white. the lines are usually localised to one area of the screen though the area that they cover varies. It does not appear to matter whether the signal is from the digital receiver, DVD or vhs video. The fault occurs on all aspect ratio settings except super wide, 4:3 and 14:9. Can this fault be repaired within the limits of financial viability or would it be cheaper to simply buy a new telly?
