My LCD TV shut's down and won't always power up

I don't know what to do. My 20" Sharp LCD flatpanel TV shut off one day while I was watching it.  I couldn't get it to power back up.  A few days later I plugged it back in and it powered up and lasted a few days.  I can't get it going again.  I don't know what to do.  I know the AC power supply is working fine because I had it checked.  I also tried plugging it in several different outlets and that didn't work.  Can anyone shed some light on the possible problem?

It sounds like a power supply

It sounds like a power supply problem in the internal supply regulator, but anything I recomend now would be a general shot in the dark. the best thing i can recomend for you is for you to contact Sharp customer service and see what they recomend http://www.sharpusa.com/products/supp..., as they may have a flat fee for a fix like this. Good Luck, and please let us know how you made out.

Thanks for the info.  I am a

Thanks for the info.  I am a novice at electronics.  Would you explain what an internal supply regulator is, and if that is the problem, is it an expensive fix, could I do it?

An internal regulator/power

An internal regulator/power supply is a circuit that would take a raw power supply voltage(your power unit)  and make several voltages to supply differant circuits inside the TV set.  There are many differant b+ voltages needed to make the set work.  lets start out by saying, for the microprocessor, it uses 5 volts, and this has to be a reliable 5 volts with no variation at all .  The luminunce amd croma circuits will want to have at least 12 to 15 volts to run properly.  Unless you know what an ESR capacitor meter is and know how to read a schematic diagram and also use a digital or even an analog type VOM then you will most likly cause more harm then good.  Im not trying at all to berate you , its just these TV sets, as all others are not a place to be experiemnting around inside of.  If you like the set please contact an authorized repair depot and see what they will charge you to repair this set. as most likly it has a bad capacitor or driver IC is bad inside this set.  good Luck
