Hello All,
I bought this set used a few days ago for 350.00 bucks, the picture seems to be very clear but has a red overlap or tint to it?
I cleaned the projection bulbs (red/green/blue) and the screen on the back side of the TV...they were very dusty I had hope's this would fix the problem but it did'nt work.
I also tried adjusting the color and this did'nt work......when I pull the menu screen up the red really stands out and everything is ablur.
Called a few tv shops and they all say 500.00 to 650.00 to fix?
I would like to have a go at fixing it myself, can anyone help.
Thanks Much,David.
David, do you have any experience repairing a solid state device? Or soldering and desoldering a printed circuit board? Do you have a Multimeter and can you read a schematic diagram, or can you tell how a curcuit works?. if the answer to one of what i just asked is No, then Im afraid that to stay safe and healthy, you should call in a pro to assist you with this repair. David, try to do a grey scale adjustment first as per the service manual. The service manual is available Here. Let us know how you made out or need more assistance. Good Luck
I prefer living on the edge, not into the safe and heathly lifestyle.Well I like to excersize and eat right.
I'm also not the sharpest tool in the shed, but certainly not as dumb as a box of rocks either.
I was more or less looking for some advice as to what part might be suspect that causes this type of problem,I've got a guy coming out to take a look and we'll go from there.
Thanks.
Ok No problem, You say red overlap? Is it the whole picture has a red tint to it? Or is the outlines of the object red?
Well I found the sequence to use the remote to get into the service mode on the set and adjusted a few things ( I have no idea what the heck I was doing) LOL! and I managed to get the color to come back pretty good.
Gonna order the tech sheet for the values.
The set does have a red tint to it,the best way I can explain it is that you know when you watching the news and at the bottom of the screen they are constantly running weather updates and such, there is shadow of red exactly the same and behind but at an angle higher than the actual line of letters.
Does that make sense?
I went to another site and it shows a picture of what my set looks like and it says grey scale,I have no idea how to do this.So it sounds like your correct so far in your analysis.
Have you tryed to do the convergence yet. It certainly sounds like you might have a convergence problem.. Can you maybe post a picture?
I have something that may help you. The codes are here also. Click here Good Luck
Larry,
Thanks for the response and link to the codes,I'm busy till the weekend and then I'll have some time to fiddle with it and read up on what convergence is.
I'll keep ya posted on the outcome.
Thanks very much.
David.
Good David, Im glad to hear your going to try and tackle it.
Larry,
I finally had the time to mess with the tv,...You Are The Man....or I'm just lucky...LOL!!!
Here's what I did to remedy and get a great picture on this TV.
First thing was 3 beers for aiming juice, opened the back of the TV and vaccumed all the dust out, looked for any burnt circuts/parts.
found none, the projection bulbs were very dirty even after I cleaned them with a dish rag,so I cleaned them again with anti static wipes and poly rag.
Followed the codes that Larry linked for me here.......(convergence).....and applied the knowledge learned.
much reading but worth every minute.
I now have a KICK ASS 350.00 projection tv.
I saved big bucks and Larry's help was priceless.
Thank You So Much,
David
