i am asking basically the

i am asking basically the same question about my sony tv, but basically when you run the higher volts, ,there is a 'fuse' somewhere, ( i am waiting for a techie to tell me how to reset) . sometimes its on the board. on my computer is a small button about the size of a pinhead, and this itself is a mini computer that saves the info bout what is good and no good, and if its getting too many volts (or worse too little) it shuts it all down . not recomended for avg. person to do though, everything must be shut down etc, you could get burned! or do it wrong and suffer.....my reccomendation , if you cant fix it, get a laptop  and add a tv card...that way you can take it everywhere. : )

Sorry Megawatt, to answer

Sorry Megawatt, to answer your question, It could be as simple as a fuse thats blown, or a major blow-out such as the Printed curcuit board could be burned . Also most likly it took out whats called a surge resistor or current limiter resistor. UsuallY, those are a big rectangle looking about 3 to 5 inches long and about .5"x.5". They are mostly white or light brown in color and may have a low value to them, such as 1 ohm all the way up to 6 to 10 ohm. Hope this helps. Let us know how you worked this out. Good Luck
