I have a 6 year old Sony KP53S70. It is not focusing, even using the Auto Flash Focus. There are shadows to all images on almost every part of the screen. We live in a rural area and have been unable to get a repair here .!! Please help!

It sounds like the convergence IC's are bad in your set. They are black and stand up against a large metal heat sink. They have white lettering on them and start with the letters STK with several numbers following them. If you know how to unsolder and solder on a printed circuit board, then you should have no problem at all locating and changing these IC's. BUT a TV set is not the place to be learning or experimenting with. If you have no solid state circuit experience or and solid state repair experience, PLEASE play it safe and get a pro to assist you in this repair, as it is dangerous if you do not know the HIGH VOLTAGE safety concerns with this set. Please let us know how you made out. Good Luck
