I have just "inherited" a rear projection Panasonic tv but there's one problem, it has no display. It powers on, you can hear it switch on, and the power light comes on, but I get nothing. Even when I press the menu buttons it still shows nothing. Does anyone know what could possibly be the problem?
It sounds like its in a dead condition my freind. If you dont have any TV repair experience, it could be a dangerous thing for you to be probing around inside this TV set. Do you Know how to use a multimeter? A scope? You will need probably both to search out the problem here. It could be a simple SMPS (Switch Mode Power Supply) problem or a sweep supply problem. My freind, it is not like it used to be in the past, where we took the tubes to the drugstore to test and fixed 90% of the problems. This is all 100% solid state, and you need training on said curcuitry. Im sorry to say, but if your not experienced with this solid state stuff, you will mess up the set more then it is, or harm yourself, as there is alot of High Voltage inside these sets, even when they are unplugged! Do your self a favor, stay safe and get a pro to assist you in this repair..
