I "helped" a friend by running a new coaxial cable from an antenna splitter to the DirectTV box that goes to her television set. After I left, I got a call from her that every time she turns on her tv in the kitchen with her remote, the tv in the bedroom goes on. This didn't happen before I changed the cable--although I can't see any connection between the two events other than coincidence.
I asked her (via phone) to close the door to the bedroom, figuring that light can't go through doors, but it has no effect--both remotes effect both sets, even with the door closed. The remotes do have a little bulb on their edge, so I assume infrared is being used (I'm not a techie, which is probably clear by now.)
Does anyone know what is happening, and what can be done?
